Bring your lawn chair and rock in the park on Saturday, May 27th! You won't want to miss this FREE concert of jazz and hits from the 60's, 70's, and 80's! Food trucks and more!

Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Karen Kartal and her Jazz Friends — featuring saxophonist Marcel Holman and singer Jeanine Fuller — open the concert, followed by The Deltas, Oak Ridge’s own hometown band, taking the stage to perform favorite hits from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s with the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra led by Music Director Régulo Stabilito.

In recognition of Memorial Day, the concert includes a special tribute to our fallen heroes. The concert is presented and sponsored by Friends of The Historic Grove Theater, Periodic Tables, High Places Church, and individual supporters.

Social Dance Knoxville: May Dance Party

Our dance party this month will be Saturday, May 27th at Broadway Academy of Performing Arts. The cost will be $10 per person. Water and light snacks are provided. A group class is included in admission, and will begin at 6pm. The dance party will start at 7pm and end at 9pm. If you have a Facebook account, be sure to RSVP and share on Facebook. Join the Historic Ramsey House this Memorial Day weekend as we take some time to honor our Veterans interred at Lebanon in the Fork Cemetery. We will be placing flags and flowers down to mark those who served in the United States Armed forces, and we will be taking a moment to honor Elizabeth Carrick, the first woman laid to rest at Lebanon in the Fork Cemetery. We invite our veterans out to help us celebrate this occasion. Ceremony will begin at 10:00am. The cemetery is located at 2390 Asbury Rd, Knoxville, TN 37914. Limited parking.

7th Annual Tennessee Pirate Fest

This family-friendly event occurs at a rustic outdoor festival site located in Harriman, about 30 miles west of Turkey Creek. All are invited to escape to the pirate haven of Port Royal, Jamaica, circa 1674.

The Tennessee Pirate Fest is planned for May 20-21, 27-28-29, 2023, from 11a-6p ET, at 550 Fiske Road. The festival will include eight acres of outdoor family-friendly stage entertainment, interactive costumed street characters, quality vendors, and a variety of games and activities.

Tri-Star Arts is pleased to present the next exhibition in their Main Gallery at the historic Candoro Marble Building. A two-person show, Internal Logic, featuring recent mixed media works by artists Kimberly Dummons (Murfreesboro, TN, USA) and Tracy Treadwell (Memphis, TN, USA) opens Friday, May 19, 2023 and will run through Saturday, July 8, 2023. Curator: Brian R. Jobe.

Tri-Star Arts is pleased to present the next exhibition in their Golden Chain Gallery project space located at the historic Candoro Marble Building. Studies by Nichole Schappert (Knoxville, TN, USA) opens Friday, May 19, 2023 and will run through Saturday, July 8, 2023. This show is located within the unique architectural space of a steep wooden stairwell and elements will be added to it by the artist over the duration of the exhibition.

Knoxville Museum of Art: Closed for renovations

May 8 – June 15, 2023 the Knoxville Museum of Art will be closed for gallery renovations. We will reopen June 16, 2023 with a projection-based sculptural installation by artist Courtney Egan, up through August 27. Followed by Jane Cassidy’s audio-visual installation Drink Up the Moon September 1-November 12, 2023.
