The Bottom: Reading Vibes

  • October 27, 2024

Category: Free event, Literature, spoken word, writing and Meetup

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27, 6:30-8:30pm
Zero Zero Wine Bar | 1211 N Central St.

This event is for folks who identify as Black, Indigenous, as a Person of Color, or of the global majority. All gender expressions are welcome!

What we'll do: First, we'll read or journal quietly for one hour, enjoying the opportunity to be in community with other BIPOC folks doing the same. In the second hour, we'll connect with each other to talk about what we read or what we wrote, and whatever else we want. Then, we'll wrap up with details about our next Reading Vibes gathering.

What you need: A book or journal, kind energy and an open heart!

This gathering is born out of a personal desire to build and practice community with like-minded folks in a world where isolation and loneliness have become prevalent norms. It is also intentionally envisioned for BIPOC folks and people of the global majority, so that we might cultivate a space that feels affirming, caring and vibrant.

Knoxville Children's Theatre: Beowulf The First Avenger

Category: Kids, family, Literature, spoken word, writing and Theatre

Conceived and written by Alex Drinnen and Dennis E. Perkins, this exciting rendition tells the tale of the great warrior Beowulf who saves the Kingdom of the Danes from not only the greedy ravages of the monster Grendel but also his equally fierce and vengeful mother.
