St. James 6th Annual Neighbor Day Celebration concert
Category: Festivals, special events, Free event, Fundraisers, Kids, family and Music
Since 1923, St. James Episcopal Church has been feeding and tending to our neighbors, especially the most vulnerable among them, in many different ways. We have been performing mercy related activities to satisfy immediate needs – providing meals and groceries and assistance with clothing, shelter, & transportation. We have also been active in justice related activities – helping to find permanent solutions to the underlying problems that create such needs. Get ready for a fun-filled, community-building experience at the 6th Annual St. James Neighbor Day Celebration as we shine the light on this important work! This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever before, with three exciting components:
First up, we will have an engaging online auction that will feature amazing gift cards and merchandise donated by local businesses. Sun, Sep 15, 2024 – Sat, Oct 5, 2024.
Next, we will have a delightful outdoor concert that will have you tapping your toes and singing along to some of your favorite tunes. Bring your family and friends and enjoy an evening of music under the stars! Tue, Oct 1, 2024 @ 6 pm.
And last but not least, we are thrilled to announce the newest addition to our celebration – the St. James Pumpkin Patch! Get your cameras ready for some adorable photo ops and pick out the perfect pumpkin to take home. Tue, Oct 1, 2024 – Tue, Oct 29, 2024

Category: Free event, Lecture, panel, Science, nature and Virtual
“The American Red Wolf: Critically Endangered, Critically Important and Sometimes Forgotten”
The American red wolf is endangered, but how are we working to save these creatures? Join a virtual program sponsored by the UT Arboretum Society on Tuesday, October 1st at 7 p.m. EST as we learn why the red wolf is important to our environment.
Tish Gailmard, a Learning and Engagement Specialist at Reflection Riding Arboretum in Chattanooga, Tennessee will introduce us to this fascinating animal. Tish considers herself very lucky to turn her passion for loving animals into an occupation. “Working and educating with wildlife has become who I am, not just what I do,” said Tish. “My days are spent teaching students and guests about wildlife and their importance to our ecology." Tish is a graduate of the University of Georgia and is a Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency licensed wildlife rehabilitator for mammals and rabies vector species. Tish was named the Tennessee Wildlife Federation Environmental Educator of the Year and has also been recognized as a Girls Preparatory School notable alumna. As a passionate advocate for wildlife, Tish is the Education Chair for the American Red Wolf SAFE program, ARW SAFE management team member, and ARW blood champion. She is also a member of the Turtle SAFE program.
The program is free, but registration is required to receive your Zoom link and the recording. The program will be recorded and sent to all who register. Register at www.utarboretumsociety.org under Programs. Please contact Michelle at mcampani@utk.edu for any questions or registration issues.
