Marble City Opera brings a concert of operatic favorites to Oak Ridge on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. The concert will be held at the Historic Grove Theater, 123 Randolph Road in Oak Ridge. The Grove celebrated its 80th birthday in 2024. The performers are soprano Kathryn Frady, tenor Cody Boling, soprano Jamey Owen, baritone Daniel Spiotta, and pianist Brandon Coffer.

McClung Museum: Annual Darwin Day Celebration

Mark your calendars for Sunday, February 23! Charles Darwin is turning 216! Join museum educators and UT scientists at the McClung's annual celebration of Darwin Day, 12:00 - 4:00 PM. Visitors are welcome to engage in family-friendly activity stations exploring themes of deep time, evolution, and adaptation. It will be a party. Come ready to take pictures with a giant Darwin puppet!
Guests may also bring their personal rock collections to be identified by experts.

Intro dance class (7:00-7:45pm)! Kelly Arsenault and Scott Angelius teach a fun class on incorporating Carolina Shag footwork into your dancing!
Cover: $10 for everything, or join us after the lesson for $5. Cash is preferred, but we gladly accept Venmo and PayPal. No dance experience needed: Come listen to the tunes, grab a drink or snack and chill, or learn something new. Everyone welcome. No dance partner required: Whether you're bringing friends or looking to meet some, everyone's invited! All dance styles welcome: Swing, Carolina shag, blues, wcs, salsa, cha-cha, bachata all have rhythms that work well to the music. And, of course, solo dancing is encouraged!

Get ready to swap your seeds and excess plants at the annual Ijams Seed and Plant Swap on February 23!! It is a great way to start your garden at Ijams' annual seed swap! Seed swaps are a fun way to meet other gardeners or plant enthusiasts in the area, learn tips and tricks about your favorite plants, and find out what crops and natives do well in the area or even how to keep your favorite house plant alive! Bring any seeds left from last season's garden, cuttings from your overgrown plants, or extra plants that need a good home, and take some new seeds/plants for your 2025 garden! This also goes for house plants, succulents, or starters that you may have too many of.
This event is free, and you can come anytime between 11 am-2 pm. This event will be held inside the Visitor Center. The Knox County Master Gardeners and Ijams Staff will be here to answer any gardening or seed-related questions you may have! Can't make it to this event, but have seeds you'd like to see go to a good home? Ijams will be collecting seeds for the seed swap through Feb. 20. Feel free to drop seeds/cuttings/extra plants by the Visitor Center during regular business hours (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) if you'd like to donate.

The Maryville College Concert Choir, Off Kilter, Lads & Lassies will present a concert of choral music with a theme of social and political change. Included in the program will be arrangements of "We Shall Overcome", "If I Had a Hammer", "Blackbird" and "Big Yellow Taxi". Since the choir is touring during the Lenten season, there will also be meditative selections such as "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Esto Les Digo". There is no admission fee.

GO! Contemporary Dance

GO! Contemporary Dance Works presents the return of its wildly popular ballet, ALICE in Wonderland on February 22 & 23 at the historic Bijou Theatre, 803 S. Gay Street. A Knoxville fan-favorite, ALICE: A Revolutionary Ballet is hailed as one of GO! Contemporary Dance Works’ most beloved works, narrating the world of Wonderland with eye-popping visuals, gravity-defying aerials, and stunning set design. Lisa Hall McKee’s spectacular production reimagines this classic story in a whimsical style set to famous scores by George Bizet, Leo Delibes, and others. ALICE will pull its audience down the rabbit hole to meet instantly recognizable characters like the nervous white rabbit, a spinning Mad Hatter, and a terrifying Queen of Hearts.
This large-scale production includes a cast of over 70 talented dancers with work from six choreographers, featuring professionals and a lead guest artist from New York City.
This revolutionary ballet integrates vibrant costuming, elaborate scenery, and animated
projection to bring the colorful wonderland to life on the Bijou Theatre stage.
This will be GO!’s 21st season performance with showtimes on Saturday, February 22nd at 2:00 and 7:30 PM and Sunday, February 23rd at 2:00 PM and may be purchased at gocontemporarydance.com via Ticketmaster. Knoxville Children's Theatre: Mean Girls Jr.

Knoxville Children’s Theatre, in partnership with the Clayton Foundation, will present a live production of Mean Girls Jr. The musical will be performed from February 21 – March 9, with showtimes on Thursdays and Fridays at 7 PM, Saturdays at 1 PM and 5 PM, and Sundays at 3 PM and 6 PM.

Cady Heron grew up in Africa, but suburban Illinois is a whole new jungle. To take down queen bee Regina George, she goes undercover with The Plastics. As her real and fake selves blur, Cady must find her way back to her true friends—and herself. Adapted from Tina Fey’s 2004 blockbuster film and the Broadway smash hit, Mean Girls Jr. is sure to be SO fetch!
The production features 22 talented young actors, ages 11 to 16. The show is directed by guest director Madison M. Mansouri and designed by 15 student designers, ages 10 to 16.
