Mojo Tweed came together from a group of friends who like playing a variety of blues, funk and R&B. Most of them have been playing for some 20+ years in a variety of bands and settings. The name Mojo Tweed came from their desire to play through small tweed tube amplifiers to evoke Mojo or Voodoo. They like playing classics by Muddy Waters, Little Walter and Howlin Wolf as well as their originals and stirring it all up with some New Orleans attitude to create a gumbo of music that some have called “Swamp Boogie Blues.” This music is most fun when mixed with good food, good friends and a relaxed vibe, and of course we will have plenty of all three at Friday Night Live at The Concourse!
Dave Overall was a member of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra when he caused more than a few heads to turn when he started bringing his French horn to some Blues Jams around town. Then we learned he can sing the blues as well as play them on his horn, and he formed his own band, The Magic Hats, with some of the best blues players in town. Primarily a blues band, Leftfoot Dave & The Magic Hats stir in some R&B, funk, and soul, with a pinch of Cajun, to create a tasty stew of music that you are sure to love!

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
Erich Henry, director of conservation for the Blount County Soil and Water Conservation District, will present “Soil Health & Community Conservation,” Friday, April 22 at 12 p.m. via Z0om.
Nationwide, soil and water conservation districts provide locally led conservation programming to improve soil, water, and air quality for agricultural and non-agricultural lands. Zero-till gardens, pollinator meadows, and rain gardens are just a few conservation practices that can be implemented in our own backyards. Similarly, livestock and cropland farmers are implementing conservation practices that improve natural resource conditions for community-wide benefits. Henry will discuss how success of this programming can only be achieved through the continued partnerships of federal, state, and county entities as well as private landowners.
