November First Friday at Bliss
Bliss 24 Market Square Knoxville, TN 37902
Friday, November 1st, 2013
Opening Reception: Friday, November 1st, 6pm to 9pm
Admission: Free
Bliss is pleased to present Knoxville's own, Grant Barton of Precious Metals Prints, for November's First Friday. Bliss, located at 24 Market Square, will host an opening reception from 6pm to 9pm. Complimentary snacks will be provided and Grant's jewelry will be available for all of November.
Precious Metals Prints started when Grant wanted a special gift for his wife, Laura. While reading a book about precious metal clay, Grant got the idea to make a necklace out of their two son's fingerprints.
Precious Metals Prints are pure silver or gold monogrammed pendants which make great gifts for mothers, grandmothers and even a gift to hold onto for mothers-to-be. The kit has simple instructions for how to capture your precious fingerprints in clay, but for First Friday, Grant will capture the fingerprints for you. The finished pendants will be available for pick-up in early December at Bliss.

Category: Kids, family and Science, nature
Inspired by the internet sensation making everyone wonder what the fox really says, Knoxville Zoo is offering $5 admission to guests who give their best take on one of the possibilities featured in the popular You Tube music video. Since the offbeat song by the Norwegian comedy duo Ylvis offers a wide variety of possible things a fox may say, guests can offer their favorite interpretation at the zoo’s ticket window to receive a discounted admission of $5 to Knoxville Zoo for themselves and their accompanying party from Saturday, November 2nd through Friday, November 8th.
“We’re hoping our guests have a lot of fun with this promotion,” says Alison Travis, director of Marketing at Knoxville Zoo. “It’s a little silly, but that’s the whole point, really. It’s a way you can start having fun before you even come through our gates, which we think is a wonderful way to start your visit.” Those not familiar with the “What Does the Fox Say” video can find a link on Knoxville Zoo’s Facebook page and Twitter profile. The zoo encourages sharing of the unconventional promotion with friends and family via social media. The $5 admission is valid only at the zoo’s ticket window from November 2nd through November 8th and cannot be combined with any other discount or coupon.

Clayton Center for the Arts: Emile Pandolfi

Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 8pm in the Ronald and Lynda Nutt Theatre, the Clayton Center for the Arts presents "A Lovely Way to Spend an Evening" with Emile Pandolfi. Best known for his arrangements, Emile’s favorite music to arrange comes from Broadway musicals. “In addition to being melodically fulfilling, these songs usually contain meaningful lyrics and lend themselves to interesting arrangement”. In many of his arrangements, one can hear the influence of Chopin and Debussy, accounting for the sensitivity and passion with which he plays.
Although serious about his playing, Emile is never serious about himself. While the audience is treated to a brilliant musical performance, they are also entertained by Emile’s charming sense of humor and friendly personality. Pandolfi made his symphony debut at age 14 and went on to hone his skills and shape his performance skills by being the “piano guy” at comedy clubs between sets of then up and comers like Jerry Seinfield and Jay Leno. Guest vocalist Dana Russell will join the acclaimed Steinway Artist. Pandolif’s program includes popular standards, Broadway hits, classical favorites and even newly discovered arrangements.
Tickets are $10-$25 and group rates are available.
