Marble Springs Historic Site will be hosting a weekend of Living History in celebration of the first governor of Tennessee. John Sevier Days Living History Weekend will take place Saturday, September 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. & Sunday, September 23, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can expect to enjoy 18th century demonstrations such as open-hearth cooking; spinning and weaving, blacksmithing, weapons demonstrations, which will showcase tomahawks and period-appropriate firearms; tours of the historic buildings; 18th century style militia drills; and regional craft demonstrations. Food, drinks, and special treats!

Special guest Bill Landry will be available from 1pm to 3pm on Sunday to discuss and sign his book, Appalachian Tales & Heartland Adventures. Landry is the host, narrator, and co-producer of the four-time Emmy award-winning The Heartland Series.

Please join us with your family and friends and enjoy an early autumn festival to kick off a memorable fall season at Marble Springs!

Marvel Comics favorites Captain America and Iron Man will be a Knoxville Zoo-and guests can get a personal introduction and pose for photos with these super heros.

This year's event will feature a classic car show as well as all day music and entertainment, wagon rides to a pumpkin patch, arts & crafts, antique dealers, fall decorating items, mums, herbs, old fashion ice cream & cobblers, and kettle corn. Mrs. Ramsey’s kitchen will be serving hot dogs, beans and corn bread and the popular Wallace Bar-B-Q. We will be featuring appraisals by Joe Rossen and Darryl Mackley. This year we have invited Community Service Groups to join us. We will have the Knox Co Sheriffs Dept, American Red Cross, Random Acts of Flowers, and Second Harvest. Please bring your giving hearts and non perishable foods to donate.

We will be selling raffle tickets for a hand pieced reproduction Civil War quilt (queen size) by Mildred Dugan that will be raffled off in December during our Candlelight Tour of the Historic Home. What a great Christmas gift!

Admission to the event is a $5.00 parking fee. Tours of the home will be conducted by docents in period dress and will be available for $5.00 per person. All proceeds from this fund raiser will go toward continuing our mission to educate, preserve, and interpret the history and cultural life of early Tennessee and the important role of the Ramsey family.

September is Hispanic Heritage Month. The Hispanic community in conjunction with Christians for Justice and Peace invites you to the Hispanic Heritage Festival and experience Hispanic culture. The Hispanic Heritage Festival will be held at the National Guard Amory in Crossville.
· At 3pm an Aztec Dance group from Nashville will be showing their dance and music skills.
· At 4pm authentic Hispanic cuisine will be available for a minimum donation of $5 a plate or $15 for a family. Every Hispanic restaurant in Crossville will have their food to sample and some of the Hispanic Ministry at St. Alphonsus Church will also have food. Buy a plate and sample from all the food items. The restaurants are Cancun, HerbaLife, La Costa, Las Margaritas, La Sirena, Mexico Lindo, Victor's, and Vidal Jamaican Cuisine.
· At 5pm there will be a presentation by a prominent speaker on “Welcoming the Immigrant.”
· For those who want to stay, there will be music and dancing from 6 to 8.
· There will be activities for children to also sample Hispanic culture throughout the day.

Pellissippi State Community College marks National Hispanic Heritage Month with celebrations on Sept. 20 and Oct. 12 at the Hardin Valley Campus in West Knoxville.

The Sept. 20 presentation features dance groups performing in the Goins Building College Center. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. It includes the following scheduled performances:
5:15-6 p.m.—Knoxville Argentine Tango Society
6:15-7 p.m.—Academy Ballroom Latin Dance Ensemble
7:15-8:15 p.m.—Pablo Garzon and Serenatta, Romantic Latin Ensemble, of Nashville

On Oct. 12, the Core Ensemble performs its chamber music theatre work “Tres Vidas,” 7-8:30 p.m. at the Clayton Performing Arts Center. Chamber music theatre is a format developed by the Core Ensemble that blends theatrical narrative and chamber music performance.

“Tres Vidas” is a celebration of the life, times and work of three significant Latin American women: painter Frida Kahlo of Mexico, peasant activist Ruffina Amaya of El Salvador and poet Alfonsina Storni of Argentina.

Zuzanna Dyrda and Agnieszka Sierzputowska, students from the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, Poland will present an exhibition “4765 miles = 7665 kilometers” at Gallery 1010 September 20-22, 2012. Dyrda and Sierzputowska are artists-in-residence in printmaking for the month of September at the UTK School of Art. A reception will be held on Friday September 21 from 5-8pm. Held every 4 years since 1992, Arrowmont's Utilitarian Clay Symposia enjoys an international audience in celebrating and demonstrating the limitless interpretations of the utilitarian clay object. The symposium attracts those who are interested in not only the practical concerns with making functional objects, but also in the more theoretical issues related to the field. The Symposium, limited to only 200 attendees, provides an intimate atmosphere for meaningful dialogue, discussion and social activities.

This is an exhibition by hispanic artists that live and work in the United States, particularly in the southeast region and the Knoxville area.

This exhibition shows the diversity of the mediums and styles that these contemporary artists produce in their creative practices while questioning what it means to be a contemporary hispanic artist in the United 'States.

Pencil Pushed: exploring process and boundaries in drawing.
In this exhibition, the word pencil functions simply as a metaphor or symbol for drawing and its activity. The artists selected are known for their drawing or drawing activity as their primary means of expression and have either pushed the material, process, or boundary of conventional drawing. Media included will be video, sculpture, animation, installation, and of course, works on paper. This exhibition is neither a survey nor the definitive grouping of mark-making artists. It is more a conversation about artists who have and continue to explore these regions in drawing. The diversity of the exhibition will favor mid-career artists, but will range from emerging to late.
