Farragut Folklife Museum: An Old Fashioned Christmas

The Farragut Folklife Museum invites the community to visit "An Old Fashioned Christmas" exhibit, on display now through Dec. 28, 2012 (closed Dec. 24 and 25). This special holiday exhibit will feature items from the Museum's collection of artifacts as well as items belonging to Folklife Museum Committee members.
The exhibit showcases a variety of antique toys, games and dolls dating from the late 1800s through the 1900s.
The Farragut Folklife Museum is committed to preserving the heritage of its East Tennessee community and features a remarkable collection of artifacts from the area, including an extensive collection of the personal belongings of Admiral David Glasgow Farragut, first Admiral of the U.S. Navy and hero of the Civil War. Housed in the Farragut Town Hall located at 11408 Municipal Center Drive, the Museum is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and offers free admission. Tennessee Theatre: Mighty Musical Monday

The guest performers for the James A. Dick Mighty Musical Monday Program will be the Central High Choral Groups. In addition to the performers, Bill Snyder and Freddie Brabson will play selections on the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ. Guest MC for the program will be Kelly Vasconcelos. A boxed lunch may be purchased in the lobby for $5.00 (while supplies last). In addition, several snacks may be purchased at the concession stand such as soft drinks, bottled water, popcorn, candy. There is no charge for the program.

WDVX: Tennessee Shines with Karen Reynolds, Amanda Williams & Scott Southworth

WDVX’s Tennessee Shines Radio Show is performed for a live audience every Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Knoxville Visitor Center and broadcast live on WDVX FM and WDVX.com. Each show is hosted by Bob Deck and Paige Travis.
Tickets are $10, available in advance at BrownPaperTickets.com and sold at the door on the night of the show. Doors of the visitor center open at 6:15 p.m. and the show begins promptly at 7 p.m.
Children 14 and under accompanied by a parent are admitted free of charge. College students get in free by showing their valid student IDs at the door.

Clayton Center for the Arts: Holiday Concert

The Orchestra at Maryville College, led by conductor Bill Robinson, and the Community Chorus, under the direction of Alan Eleazer, will come together for a holiday concert.
Tickets for Adults are $10, Seniors over 60 are $8 and students are $5. Tickets are $5 with a donation of a new, unwrapped toy for the "Toys of Blount County" campaign. Maryville College Faculty and Staff and Student are free with ID but a ticket is needed for admission. For more information contact the Clayton Center Box Office at (865) 981-8590.

UTK Snack Cake Club Information Table

The U.T. Knoxville Chapter of the Snack Cake Club will hold an information table promoting public appreciation of snack cakes in front of the TRECS. Members of the campus community are welcome to come and learn more about snack cakes, especially Twinkies, which may be saved by Grupo Bimbo, a Mexican company that is the world’s largest bread baker. Also, learn about responsible snack cake consumption, and how moderation is the key enjoying snack cakes and avoiding the many health risks associated with obesity.
