Category: Literature, spoken word, writing

The Knoxville Writers’ Guild is proud to launch its ninth literary anthology, “Love, Angst, and the Death of Innocence,” at its Thursday, Dec. 6 meeting.

The anthology is a collection of poetry and prose from teenagers across East Tennessee. The title, “Love, Angst, and the Death of Innocence,” reflects the book’s three themes, which were selected because of their relevance to adolescence.
Contributors scheduled to read include high school and young college students from Knoxville and surrounding areas.

In honor of the book launch, the Guild is holding a book drive benefiting the L&N STEM Academy. Donations of all types of books are welcome as the school will exchange some books for credit at McKay Used Books. Credit will be used to purchase additional books to fill specific school needs. Adria Amos, KWG publicist, board member and parent of a STEM sophomore, will collect donations at the meeting. Look for Amos at a table in the Laurel Theater from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Dec. 6, or contact her at 865-809-8723 or AdriaAmosKWG@gmail.com for other arrangements.

The event, which will be open to the public, begins at 7 p.m., at the Laurel Theater, at the corner of Laurel Avenue and 16th Street in Fort Sanders. A $2 donation is requested at the door. The building is handicapped accessible. Additional parking is available at Redeemer Church of Knoxville, 1642 Highland Ave.
