US Cellular Stage at the Bijou: The SteelDrivers
Category: Music
The SteelDrivers
Saturday, April 20, 2013, 8:00 pm at the Bijou Theatre, Knoxville, TN.
Nashville, Tennessee is a nexus ' a point where tradition and innovation intersect, where commerce collides with art. And only Nashville could give birth to a band like the SteelDrivers: a group of seasoned veterans each distinguished in his or her own right, each valued in the town's commercial community who are seizing an opportunity to follow their hearts to their souls' reward. In doing so, they are braiding their bluegrass roots with new threads of their own design, bringing together
country, soul, and other contemporary influences to create an unapologetic hybrid that is old as the hills but fresh as the morning dew. This is new music with the old feeling. The SteelDrivers' brand of bluegrass ' intense, dark, poetic, and inescapably human is a refreshing reminder of the timeless power of stringband music.

What do Shakespeare and broccoli have in common?
Teens are invited to find out at the Bard’s birthday celebration on April 20 at the East Tennessee History Center
Knox County Public Library invites teens and their teachers to make merry on April 20 from 1-4:30 p.m. at the East Tennessee History Center, 601 S. Gay Street in honor of William Shakespeare’s birthday. In its 5th year, Shakesfest celebrates both teens and the writings of the Elizabethan era's biggest literary star. The event is free and open to all area teens.
Deron Hicks, author of the Secrets of Shakespeare’s Grave will discuss his writing experience and sign books. Teens can also enjoy Knoxville's very own players -- the Tennessee Stage Company. Come revel in such stuff that dreams are made on!
