4th Annual Farragut Art in the Park

he Farragut Business Alliance has once again partnered with the Town of Farragut and Dogwood Arts Festival to host the 4th Annual Farragut Art in the Park, presented by TDS. It is a plein air event, with two days of painting or photography on location, followed by a gallery reception and sale. Art for Kids! will be back again this year as well and new youth competition categories have been added.

The paint-out/shooting dates are Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27, 2014. The Gallery Reception and Sale is Friday, May 9th. The events will occur rain or shine.

Farragut Art in the Park culminates with a Gallery Reception & Art Sale at 7pm on Friday, May 9. Due to a generous partnership with The Pinnacle at Turkey Creek, it will be held in a new location this year, at 11483 Parkside Drive (in the space next to Men’s Warehouse). Hors d'oeuvres and desserts are complimentary and wine will be available for $3 per glass. The Knoxville Bella Corda, an Allied Music Instructors youth acoustic guitar ensemble, will provide entertainment. Finally, Best of Show, First Place and Second Place paintings and photographs (judged separately) will be awarded cash prizes. Presenting Sponsor’s Choice will also be named.

Dogwood Arts Festival: Bikes & Blooms

Bikes & Blooms, a featured event of the Dogwood Arts Festival and produced in partnership with Outdoor KnoxFest, lets you experience the Dogwood Trails the lean, green way on an organized ride for everyone to enjoy! Scenic 8-mile rides led by Tennessee Valley Bikes, riders must wear helmets. Young riders must be skilled at on-road riding and suggested age 8 and up. Rides are free! SATURDAY, APRIL 26 AT 3:00PM
Observe the beauty of the Dogwood Trails from the seat of a bicycle as you ride to the colorful gardens that frame Island Home Boulevard. Riders will enjoy river views and tranquil forests as they continue on the greenway to Ijams Nature Center before returning.

SUNDAY, APRIL 27 AT 3:00PM
Behold the colorful displays of our native dogwood trees that fringe our boulevards and gardens. Bikers will ride through downtown and loop through historic neighborhoods in North Knoxville.

The Spring Plant Sale features eight local nurseries selling wildflowers, shrubs and trees. Garden flowers, vegetables, outdoor crafts, pottery, birdhouses, metal works and decorations will also be available. Proceeds benefit Ijams Nature Center’s natural areas and trails.

The Muse Knoxville is a nonprofit institution committed to inspire and empower generations at the intersection of science and art. Our facility is located in the historical Chilhowee Park directly across from the Jacob Building and next door to the Knoxville Zoo. Visitors can explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math exhibit and play experiences. Preschool aged children can discover the fun of learning as they touch, listen, build and create in our Kidspace area. Kids and adults alike can explore the planets, stars and beyond inside our Akima Planetarium! The center also presents hundreds of programs, field trips, activities and events each year.

We are very excited about this year's Raising of the Water!! Fort Loudoun Lake Association's biggest event of the year is going to be even better this year. John Trotter has been gracious enough to host the Raising of the Water at his beautiful homestead, the former Dulin Art Gallery on Kingston Pike. This year we will have unique and exciting auction items presented by Auctioneer David Pozy including fabulous getaways, beautiful works of art, party packages for you to throw the party of the century, and so much more! There will also be live music from the Jay Eric Band for you to enjoy while perusing the silent auction items and noshing on the delicious food provided by Dead End BBQ.

We cannot wait and hope to see you all there! Come have some fun and help us raise money to keep Fort Loudoun Lake safe, clean, and fun!
