Based on the classic works of Dr. Seuss. Horton the Elephant, The Cat In The Hat, and many more of the beloved characters created by Dr. Seuss will spring to life onstage at Knoxville Children’s Theatre in Seussical, Jr. The play is a musical extravaganza from Tony-winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty that has thrilled audiences all around the world.

Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

Performances are generally Thursdays and Fridays at 7 PM, Saturdays at 1 PM and 5 PM, and Sundays at 3 PM.

Pellissippi State Community College hosts the Knoxville Opera Company for the college's first musical concert of the year.

"Magnifico!" is at 7 p.m. in the Clayton Performing Arts Center on the Hardin Valley Campus, 10915 Hardin Valley Road. The concert will feature performers Kevin Doherty and Sarah Fitch, accompanied by Brian Salesky, Knoxville Opera's executive director and conductor.

Knox Heritage continues its series of educational lunches, Lost & Found, on Friday, September 19th at 11:30 a.m. Guest speakers John Case owner, founder and president of Case Antiques, Inc. will present a fascinating overview of local artists and their place in the current market for regional fine and decorative arts

4th Annual Storytelling Festival at the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center in Townsend, Tennessee. Tickets may be purchased at the door and will be $5.00 per person (GSMHC members and children 5 and under are free).

Knoxville Zoo will be hosting a special after-hours event featuring original art and craft created by the zoo’s animal “artists”. Art Gone Wild!, a special show and sale of original paintings and customized gift items will be held at Knoxville Zoo. (This special event is for guests 18 and up.)

At Art Gone Wild!, attendees can enjoy wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres while shopping for original works of art and craft created by the zoo’s animals as part of the zoo’s animal enrichment program. All proceeds from Art Gone Wild! fund the zoo’s enrichment program, which is an integral part of the zoo’s animal husbandry practices that ensures the physical and psychological well-being of the animals in the zoo’s care.
