Knoxville Children's Theatre: The Hobbit
Category: Kids, family and Theatre
The play will be performed Thursdays at 7 PM, Fridays at 7 PM, Saturdays at 1 PM and 5 PM, and Sundays at 3 PM.
Knoxville Children’s Theatre, in partnership with the Clayton Foundation will present a live production of “The Hobbit.” This live stage adaptation of the famous novel by J.R.R. Tolkien is written by Patricia Gray.
Bilbo, one of the most conservative of all Hobbits, is asked to leave his large, roomy and very dry home in the ground in order to set off as chief robber in an attempt to recover an important treasure. It’s the last thing that any sensitive Hobbit would want to do, but great benefit eventually results - not only for Bilbo but for all of the Hobbits who inhabit Middle Earth - and the hearts of those children and adults who continue to enjoy a magical fantasy.
The play is performed by 24 talented young actors, from ages 8 to 16.
The show is directed by recent KCT graduate Quintin Rhodes with Assistant Director Alyssa Vogt.
KCT is East Tennessee’s leading producer of plays for children and families.

Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center: A Neil Diamond Tribute Starring Keith Allynn
Category: Music
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/a-neil-diamond-tribute-starring-keith-allynn-tickets-134432648671
Diamond look and sound alike Keith Allynn began his career in stand-up comedy at the age of 14 opening for such greats as Chris Rock, Tim Allen and Robin Williams. At 21, Keith discovered his musical talents while performing “All Shook Up” at a karaoke night. The girls went wild, and Keith was hooked. For several years he continued to perform as an Elvis tribute artist and was voted a top-ten Elvis by Graceland. Later, trying to impress a girl who was a huge Neil Diamond fan, he called her on the phone and in his best “Neil” voice sang “Hello Again” from the Jazz Singer. It became their song, she became his wife, and he became The Diamond Image. Recently Keith was selected to be one of only a handful of Neil Diamond Tribute artists in the world to be featured in a documentary entitled “Diamond Mountain”, actually being voted # 1 by his peers! After having performed over a decade in Branson MO., Keith Allynn now travels extensively throughout the United States paying tribute to America’s favorite singer song writer, Neil Diamond. Allynn’s mesmerizing style, intimacy with audiences, and cover of Diamond’s top hits makes A Neil Diamond Tribute the only way to “Experience the feel of Neil”.

This is a laid back, monthly event for those in Knoxville who would like to meet and get to know people that are making an impact on a business, civic, political and creative level.

As the event has gained popularity, other small businesses (bank, architect, I.T. company, etc.) have asked to be a host. And as the name implies…we always meet on the 2nd Friday of the month!

She encourages viewers to take a deeper look into her layered imagery, as hidden components are often waiting to be discovered.
Elle Colquitt, Fiber Vessels
Elle has been working as a professional textile artist since the early 1970's. Currently, she is enjoying the challenge of designing fiber vessels. The wide variety of texture and pattern of her fabrics create designs that impersonate other materials; her work falls somewhere between quilting, basketry, pottery, and sculpture. Each unique vessel features distinctive trims and embellishments.

Using this substrate, I apply mixed media to depict a landscape that I have personally visited and photographed. The final image results in areas where letters, words, and printed material are visible."
