New Interactive Gallery for Families and Children
The East Tennessee Historical Society, along with the Knoxville Chamber, invites you to join us for the opening of the new children’s gallery addition in the Museum of East Tennessee History. History Headquarters was made possible by a direct appropriation grant to ETHS of $500,000 in the state of Tennessee’s 2016-17 budget and administered by the Tennessee Historical Commission to design and build this amazing new gallery for children and their families.
History Headquarters Invites Visitors to Unlock the Past!
Opens to the Public: Saturday 8/28–Sunday 8/29/21
(Reservations Required)
Let us introduce you to a place where young people and their families learn about our state and nation's history through discovery and play. History Headquarters is a separate gallery within the museum featuring whimsical, hands-on mini exhibits for young children through preteens to enjoy. The space will also serve as the stage for our student tours and education programs.
Parents and children alike will enjoy exploring the many entertaining and educational activities offered to make history come to life.

The Tennessee Association of Vintage Base Ball plays the game by 1864 rules, wears period uniforms, and represents actual baseball teams that existed in 1864. There are some new aspects of this free event this year at Ramsey House. Food trucks will now be providing refreshments at each game, and kids can now participate in a themed craft and game area! The 15% of the proceeds from the food truck sales help us to continue to bring this great educational event to our community. We encourage you to support these local food vendors throughout the season. Please bring a lawn chair an umbrella for shade and leave the coolers at home.

Suttree Landing Park: Second Bell
Category: Comedy, Culinary arts, food, Dance, movement, Festivals, special events and Music
Knoxville’s South Waterfront Celebration | Suttree Landing Park
After co-producing BLANKFest for three years in Knoxville’s Historic Market Square, we decided it was time to take this party to a body of water. So, Second Bell at Suttree Landing Park was born. Much like BLANKFest, Second Bell will highlight the local and regional entertainment communities and we’re making it easy for you.
Our goal is to create an oasis where you can discover your new favorite local band, restaurant, retailer and comedian all in one day, and for next to nothing monetarily. The event will pair Knoxville’s vibrant scene with its newest riverfront park in one of the area’s fastest growing sectors.

Flying Anvil Theatre: Open Casket

August 26-29
Thurs-Sat @ 7:30, Sun @ 2:00
The provocative, spoken-word performance artist Minton Sparks will be taking the stage at Flying Anvil Theatre in Knoxville presenting her Open Casket show for a live audience August 26-29, 2021. The performance will also mark the debut of new material from her album "Where Humans and Birds Begin."
The Open Casket program revolves around the people in Sparks' life and a review of the characters that make up a rural community. As they say in the south, "We don't hide crazy. We parade it on the front porch and give it a sweet tea." She invites you to grab a sweet tea, pull up a chair, set a spell and take a listen.
Minton has not only won over audiences with her show but left a lasting impression with media and applauded performers.
