The Arts & Culture Alliance is pleased to present a new exhibition of colorful oils and drawings by Monroe County artist Denny Morelock entitled “Dreamscapes, An Altered Realityâ€, on display in the Balcony at the Emporium Center in downtown Knoxville from October 5-26, 2012.
Born in upper east Tennessee in the small historic town of Rogersville, Denny Morelock recognized his love for drawing at a young age when he began copying schematic drawings he found in books. In Hilton’s classes, Morelock was able to explore multiple media and showed talent in 2- and 3-D objects of art; he also learned to work with charcoal, pastels, graphite, watercolor and clay sculpting. Morelock studied oil painting at the University of Tennessee with Walter Stevens and Carl Sublett and studied printmaking with Byron McKeeby. Walter Stevens became his mentor and inspired Morelock’s work, praised his insights, and challenged his creativity.
