Knoxville Children’s Theatre will present a live stage version of the grand chase novel Around the World in 80 Days for children and families from January 11 through 26. The play will be performed at Children’s Theatre at 800 Tyson Street in downtown Knoxville.
The time is 1872, decades before the invention of the airplane. A gentleman thief has just robbed the Bank of England, and three days later, Phileas Fogg makes a daring wager: that he can travel around the world and return home to England in 80 days. But Inspector Fixx of Scotland Yard is convinced that Mr. Fogg is the thief, and that the wager is merely a clever means to escape justice. Around the World in 80 Days is full of comic episodes, adventure scenes, wise advice, and good old British ingenuity.
