Category: Festivals, special events and Fundraisers

Heavens to Murgatroyd! If you’re a cat who’s into mid-century modern, jammin’ jazz, and eats that’ll Blow Your Top, then here’s your scene: High atop Appleby Ridge, this 1960’s pad epitomizes the early green design movement promoted by famous architects working in California in the mid twentieth century. The house’s open spaces using post and beam construction, large expanses of glass, wood paneling, and natural flagstone floors showcase the kickin’ natural environment. While the living room and kitchen serve as the hip hub of the digs, it is the large screened porch placed on the main axis and wrap-around terrace facing the Tennessee River below that characterize this exuberant era. You’ll be driven to this secluded hilltop hideaway to meet owners Jessica Weiss and Jason White and their canine trio. The smokin’ sounds of live jazz led by Emily Mathis and a menu worthy of “The Duke” will Snap Your Cap! Unexpected delights of art, architecture, and ambiance await you at this happenin’ pad. This summer supper is sure to be 18 Karat. 40 guests, $125.00 per person. Location: South Knoxville, 4515 Appleby Ridge Way.

Knox Heritage’s popular series of fundraising dinners, Summer Suppers, takes place annually in some of the region’s most spectacular historic places. The suppers are organized by host committees of volunteers who work together to plan every detail.
