Frank Martin Exhibit

Featuring the work of Frank Martin, associate professor at the University of Tennessee’s School of Art (ceramics).
Frank’s work has been exhibited in; The State of the Art 2008: National Biennial Ceramics Invitational at Parkland Art Gallery Champaign, IL, The Art of Tennessee at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts in Nashville. His works are in the collections of the Charles A. Wusum Museum of Fine Arts in Racine Wisconsin and the Schein-Joseph International Museum of Ceramic Art, New York.
The Last Friday Art Walk, organized by the Maryville Arts Coalition, is an event that celebrates the arts on the last Friday of every month in Historic Downtown Maryville. Free and open to the public.

Visitors to Knoxville Zoo will enjoy free admission and parking during the zoo’s Kroger Free Weekend on Saturday, Nov. 8, and Sunday, Nov. 9, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. (Last admissions are one hour before closing at 3:30 p.m.)

Knoxville Zoo hosts Kroger Free Weekend to give everyone the opportunity to visit the zoo, say thanks for the community support the zoo receives throughout the year and help other local non-profit organizations. Although a donation is not required for free admission to Knoxville Zoo, Free Weekend visitors are encouraged to donate items to help Mission of Hope and Young-Williams Animal Center of Knoxville.

Mission of Hope is a volunteer organization providing assistance, aid and resources to those living in poverty-stricken areas in rural Appalachia. In order to help meet the increased demand of the holiday season, they are requesting donations of non-perishable food items and new children’s toys.

Young-Williams Animal Center serves the community by providing compassionate care to animals, working to find homes for adoptable pets, providing affordable spaying and neutering services, and educational programs about animal welfare. The center is in need of dry and canned dog, puppy, cat and kitten food and new pet toys.

Kidstuff, hosted by Sean McCollough, is a show full of high-quality music geared to kids and the kids at heart airing every Saturday morning at 10 a.m. On most Saturdays, the show is a mix of recorded and live music from inside the WDVX studio. But on the second Saturday of month, everyone is invited to join the audience at the Knoxville Visitors Center for our free live performance edition. Bring your kids, both big and small, to Kidstuff Live!

The Lambert Recital Hall Performance Series

Bobby Horton’s life long passion for music and history began at an early age. With a trumpet playing father and a banjo-playing grandfather, he was exposed to a varied menu of music—from the sound of the big bands, jazz combos and classical to the old time sounds of Southern gospel, sacred harp, and “hillbilly” music.

Pittman Center School's Parent Teacher Organization is hosting its annual Fall Festival on Saturday, November 8, 2014.

A live auction at the festival is an integral part of our fundraising for the whole year. Proceeds from the festival are used to enhance and supplement existing school programs, provide instructional equipment, purchase necessary furnishings and providing teachers with much needed funds for purchasing classroom supplies.

Marble Springs State Historic Site will host a series of kid and family-friendly workshops on Saturday, November 8, 2014. These workshops will consist of making a basic cornhusk doll, weaving, advanced cornhusk doll, and tin punching. Registration will be required for this event. Children are welcomed to wear their Halloween costumes for the workshops.

A basic cornhusk doll making workshop will take place at 11 am, costs $5 per person, and is recommended for ages 8 and up. A weaving workshop will take place at 1:30 pm, costs $5 per person, and is recommended for ages 6 and up. The advanced cornhusk doll making workshop will take place at 2:30 pm, costs $8 per person, and is recommended for ages 13 and up. The tin punching workshop takes place at 3:30 pm, costs $8 per person, and is recommended for ages 8 and up. All workshops include a tour of the property. The November concert will be a tribute to the music of saxophonist Grover Washington, Jr. and will feature local and regional saxophonists performing with Brian.
