The 31st annual Arts Gala, sponsored by the Athens Area Council for the Arts Auxiliary is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2015 at The Arts Center in downtown Athens, Tennessee. The fundraiser is a celebration of the arts in the area, and everyone is invited to attend. The hours for the event are 6:30pm to midnight and dressy attire is suggested. Tickets are $75 per person.

Gala 2015 is called AACA Has Magic to Do and promises a variety of experiences throughout the event. The evening begins with the opening of the silent auction, cash bar, and served hors d’oeuvres. Cameo appearances by selected community talent will grace the stage during the first hour as guests peruse the auction items donated by area artists and businesses. Following the short performances is the oral auction of larger items ranging from art work to trips followed by a cocktail buffet. At 9:00pm, party band Scenic City Soul Revue, headed up by Athenian Tim Hughes, will take the stage bringing guests to the dance floor until midnight.

Proceeds from The Arts Gala are earmarked to support school and community education in the arts. AACA has been a vital presence in McMinn County since 1979, presenting thousands of performances, exhibitions, artist residencies, art classes and more by international, regional, and local artists of all types and genres. It has created and sustained many arts groups throughout the years, including the Athens Community Theatre, the Athens Area Children’s Choir, the Unity Gospel Choir, and has contributed technical assistance to many more groups and individuals. AACA’s current program of work is on display at the website, www.athensartscouncil.org.
