(Ages 4-5 with an adult partner) Come join us to learn about the animals that live in and around the Tennessee River. 10 am WEEKEND NATURALISTS: New Naturalist Orientation
If you are interested in sharing your love of the outdoors with others, then the week end naturalist program is for you! 2 pm LIVING CLEAN & GREEN: Attracting Hummingbirds and Butterflies
If you would like to learn more about attracting these winged wonders to your yard, join us for this fun and educational program. Ijams own gardening expert, Peg Beute, will help you enhance your yard for wildlife and provide food and shelter for your feathered and furred neighbors. FREE. Discover the colors of spring during this wildflower walk at William Hastie Natural Area. You'll accompany wildflower enthusiasts, Bob and Lynne Davis as they share their love and knowledge of spring wildflowers. Free to members, $5 for non-members. Farragut Book Fest for Children

Families are invited to get lost in a good book at the fifth annual "Farragut Book Fest for Children," presented by the Farragut Arts Council and the Knox County Library Farragut Branch, on Saturday, April 14, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Campbell Station Park located next to the Farragut Branch Library on Campbell Station Road. Children are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite storybook character's costume.

Additional happenings will include inflatables, art activities and the Ruff Reading Program, which gives kids the opportunity to read to dogs. Entertainers will include magician Michael Messing and musicians Frank Galbraith, Samantha Hatmaker, Kevin Kidd and Conny Ottway. The first 300 children will receive a free storybook and pencil; free hot dogs and lemonade will be available beginning at 11 a.m. while supplies last.

The "Farragut Book Fest for Children" is free and open to the public. Special thanks to the Farragut Kroger Marketplace for donations and to the Akima Club of Knoxville for volunteers. Limited parking will be available at Campbell Station Park; additional parking will be available at Christ Connection Church, located across the street from the park on Campbell Station Road. Touring with legends like The Allman Brothers Band, Phil Lesh, and The Dead is just another item on Warren Haynes’ list of accomplishments. As the founding member of Gov’t Mule, Haynes has cemented his status as a musical icon with a staggeringly successful solo career and a stop on Rolling Stone’s "Top 100 Guitarists of All Time." Haynes will appear live at the Bijou on Saturday, April 14 at 8 p.m. Tickets are available now, but with a name like this they’re sure to go fast!

This year’s theme “Can You Dig It,” emphasizes the unique aspect of our sale in which many of the plants have been dug from the member’s gardens.
If you love peonies, the Talahi Plant Sale is for you! We are pleased to have bare root peonies that have been propagated by Kathleen Gagan of Peony’s Envy. For more information about this year’s Talahi Plant Sale follow us on Facebook or email talahi1964@gmail.com.

Art Guild at Fairfield Glade: Annual Spring Show

“Bursting with Spring” is the title for the annual spring art show at the Plateau Creative Arts Center (PCAC). The show will be bursting with outstanding original art created by the members of the Art Guild at Fairfield Glade. Art Guild members will exhibit some of their best artwork, hoping to win one of the show’s coveted award ribbons. One ribbon will be awarded for each of the following six categories: landscape, people and animals, floral and still life, abstract, 3¬–D, and showcase item.
Those who attend the Bursting with Spring show will enjoy the opportunity to both view and judge, choosing their favorite entry in each award category. Ribbons will be awarded according to popular vote.
Voting will begin during the show’s opening reception on Friday, April 13, from 6:00 8:00 p.m. Both Art Guild members and the general public are invited to attend the reception. Voting will continue through Thursday, April 26. Ribbons will be placed next to the winning entries on Friday, April 27 and will remain until the show’s closing on Friday, May 4.

Terra Madre: Upcoming Pottery Exhibit at Blount Mansion

Terra Madre, a local group of women clay artists, announces their upcoming exhibition
“Flora and Fauna” to be held at Blount Mansion April 13-28. The opening reception for
the exhibit will be Friday, April 13 from 5-7pm. This exhibit will feature the handmade
pottery and clay work of over 20 members of the group. Terra Madre is an eclectic group of female clay artists with diverse approaches to clay. Functional, sculptural, traditional, contemporary and whimsical works of clay art relating to the flora and fauna theme will be included in the exhibit and many of the pieces will be available for purchase.
