Marble Springs State Historic Site is proud to present the 2nd Season of ‘Shopping at the Farm’ – the Marble Springs Farmer’s Market for our South Knoxville community.
The market will be held Thursdays from 3-6pm. All vendors must grow, make or produce the products they sell.

The popular Music Concert Series hosted by Pellissippi State Community College will present 10 performances for 2011-12. On April 26:

Spring Choral Concert

All performances are offered at no charge. However, donations will be accepted at the door for the Pellissippi State Foundation on behalf of the Music Scholarship fund. During the 2010-11 academic year, the Foundation awarded more than 100 music-related scholarships to more than 80 Pellissippi State students.

Concerts take place in the Clayton Performing Arts Center on the Pellissippi Campus, 10915 Hardin Valley Road . Plenty of free parking is available, and the community is encouraged to attend.

Clayton Center for the Arts: Maryville Christian School presents an Evening with Alex Kendrick of "Courageous"

What happens when God decides to use a man to spread his message of hope in movie theaters and that man says “yes?” -- Flywheel, Facing the Giants, Fireproof and Courageous. Alex Kendrick has written, directed, produced, and starred in 4 major motion pictures.

Spend an evening with Alex learning about his journey from local Christian DJ to making an internationally recognized movie that challenges men to be courageous dads. His greatest desire is to motivate the hearts of movie goers, especially the younger generation, to seek a real relationship with God.

The proceeds from this event benefit the Maryville Christian School Scholarship Fund. Each year Maryville Christian School presents “Bella Sera,” the only fundraiser for student scholarships. This year’s Bella Sera, with Alex Kendrick, promises to be a “Beautiful Evening.”

Knoxville Civil War Gateway Opening Reception

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, College of Communication and Information's School of Advertising and Public Relations will host Social Media Week, April 25-26, in the Communications Building on campus.

The two-day event, cosponsored by Dell Inc., will feature presentations, panel discussions and open forums with social media experts from Dell, Scripps Networks Interactive, Cox Enterprises and McCormick & Company, Inc., as well as Knoxville-area advertising, marketing and public relations agencies.

The event concludes on April 26 with presentations from students in the school's social media class to a number of Dell executives including Adam Brown, executive director of social media for Dell and a 1994 UT advertising graduate.The two-day event is scheduled as a lead-in to Social Slam 2012, set for Friday, April 27, at the Knoxville Convention Center. Social Slam is Knoxville's yearly one-day social media conference, drawing nationally acclaimed speakers and experts in all aspects of social media. This play-within-a-play recounts the onstage and offstage romantic battles of a touring production of The Taming of the Shrew. Featuring songs like "Brush Up Your Shakespeare", "Another Op'nin', Another Show" and "Why Can't You Behave?"
