Pellissippi State: Paper Trail Vol. 4

Peruse art, photographs and journals by students and faculty during their study abroad adventures throughout 2017. This exhibit is co-presented by Tennessee Consortium for International Studies. Exhibit times: 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, through Nov. 17. Reception to meet the artists is 3-5 p.m., Oct. 30.

The Camera Club of Oak Ridge: 69th Annual Photographic Salon

The Camera Club of Oak Ridge is pleased to announce the 69th Annual Photographic Salon. The exhibition contains photographs in 9 categories from wildlife and landscapes to abstracts and creative development.
The Salon will be on display at the Y-12 New Hope Center, 602 Scarboro Rd. OR, from October 30 to November 9 during their regular business hours, Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm.
The reception and gallery walk with comments by the jurors and light refreshments will be held on Friday, November 3rd, 7-9pm.
Camera enthusiasts have been showing the public their best photos of the year since 1948. All entries are judged by a panel of professionals and best of show awards are given in three divisions. This year an additional student competition was introduced and the prizes in this category will be awarded during the reception. Don’t miss this amazing show featuring the talent of photographers of the whole region.

Cattywampus Puppet Council: Luminary Workshop & Walk

Join Cattywampus Puppet Council in their studio for a whimsical luminary workshop sponsored by City People. Attendees will gather from 6:00-6:30pm for socializing, snacks and beverages. Workshop begins at 6:30pm and lasts approximately 2 hours. Each participant will have an opportunity to make their very own handmade lantern or luminary to warm their home or carry in the City People Luminary Walk on First Friday, November 3rd at 7pm. A variety of templates and full instruction will be available, so this workshop is appropriate for all levels. Space is limited. Tickets are $10 each and must be purchased by October 25th. It's that time of the year! Ghosts, goblins, witches, haints, and The Mysterious Past of Blount Mansion. Our annual Halloween event will be bigger and better than ever this year. There will be ghost stories, scary legends, history about death and dying in the 18th and 19th centuries, and more! There will be candy for the kids and some extra special fun with our other house on-site, the Craighead-Jackson House - one of the most haunted sites in Knoxville!

Behold: Samhain, the Norse/Celtic celebration of the coming of winter. *(Sunday is the family friendly day with traditional crafts, singalongs, games and delicious fall treats with a trick or treat at sunset.) What you see, hear, taste and smell is all a recreation of a deep cultural tradition in honor of the Old Norse gods and goddesses.

Sevier Commons Arts Council: Work by Dasha Jamison

Art is happening in downtown Sevierville, TN. Artist Dasha Jamison will exhibit her paintings and pastels in her first solo show at Courthouse Donuts/Dyers Downtown through December 31st. A reception for the artist will take place Thursday, November 16th from 5:30 until 8:00 and is free to the public. This exhibition is part of an on-going series sponsored by the Sevierville Commons Arts Council and Sevierville Commons Association.
Born and raised in Russia, Dasha Jamison creates her paintings and drawings with the hope that the work will transport you to “ …a place you want to be.” Her appreciation for art was instilled by her mother and Dasha had the privilege to attend art classes as a child. As an exchange student, she moved to the United States and received her Master’s Degree in IT Engineering. Her journey as an artist began again in recent years, drawing inspiration from the landscapes of her travels. She utilizes a variety of media for her paintings, though drawing with pastels is her favorite form in which to be expressive. Dasha Jamison is a member of the Chicago Pastel Painters Association.

Jody Sims: “My Sanctuary” Photo Exhibition

Photographers of all ages – amateur and professional – share their vision of “sanctuary” in this first annual photography exhibition. Participants were asked to consider the definition of sanctuary: “a place of refuge or safety; a sacred place” and what that means to them…Where is your sanctuary? Is it a feeling? Is it a memory? Is it real? Is it imagined?
Over 20 photos are in the exhibition which runs through January 2018. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, October 19 from 6:00-7:30pm. The restaurant will remain open during the reception.

James White's Fort: HearthScares Tours

Come and join the spirits for a tour of Downtown Knoxville’s scariest landmarks. The tours, which last approximately two hours each, will visit the sites of some of Knoxville’s best kept secrets. The tour will be about one and a half miles in length. All tours begin and end at James White’s Fort located at the intersection of Hill Avenue and Hall of Fame Drive. Ample free parking is available for tour participants at the Fort.
Tours are given October 19, 20, 23, 24, 28, 30. Tours will depart promptly at 7:00pm each evening. Please plan to arrive between 6:30-6:45pm for check in. Each tour will end with a marshmallow roast around the fires at the Fort.
Admission for Adults 16 and over will be $10.00 and $6.00 for children ages 6–15.
