Fall Festival and Chili Cookoff to benefit Mane Support

Join us for the Annual Fall Festival & Chili Cook-off in support of Mane Support at the “Spirit of Hope Ranch” in Rockwood on Saturday, October 26th! Located at 1522 New Hope Road, this exciting event will feature a chili cook-off, live music, hot dogs, games, arts and crafts, and plenty of fun for the whole family. Doors open at 2 p.m., with the chili contest judging from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and food and festival activities starting at 5 p.m. To enter the chili contest, be sure to arrive by 3 p.m.
This is our sixth annual event, and we are thrilled to continue the tradition of bringing the community together to support Mane Support, a non-profit organization that provides equine-assisted grief counseling for children, adults, and families in East Tennessee. Mane Support’s work helps those who have experienced grief and trauma heal through the unique bond between humans and horses. During the event, you’ll also have the chance to meet some of our beloved therapy horses, including Elvis, Skylar, Ricky Bobby, and more.
Tickets are $15 per person or $30 for families, and all proceeds go directly to benefit Mane Support.
We hope to see you there for an evening of delicious chili, entertainment, and heartfelt support for a great cause!

Ijams Enchanted Forest

Hallo-Week at Ijams is almost here, and a night of tricks and (lots of) treats await you in the Ijams Enchanted Forest on Oct. 26 starting at 6 PM! Dress up in your favorite costume and come experience fun, seasonal crafts, games, and activities at the Ijams Nature Playscape at Grayson Subaru Preserve. You'll get the chance to meet magical animal ambassadors such as owls, snakes, turtles, and other creatures that call the forest home. Knoxville Museum of Art: Photo Expo: Lens and Light

The Professional Photographers of East Tennessee (PPETN) are excited to announce PHOTO EXPO: Lens and Light, a juried exhibition showcasing the creative works of regional photographers at the Knoxville Museum of Art (KMA). The exhibit will run from October 25 to December 15, 2024, in the Kramer Gallery, featuring more than 30 juried photographic prints by PPETN members.
“PHOTO EXPO: Lens and Light presents a unique opportunity for our members to showcase their talents in a prestigious venue,” said Jack Retterer. “We are thrilled to collaborate with the Knoxville Museum of Art, which shares our commitment to fostering creativity and enriching the community.”
Works for the show were chosen by an independent juror and distinguished Knoxville artist, Dr. Carl Gombert, Professor Emeritus, Maryville College, ensuring a diverse and high-caliber display of photographic artistry. Dr. Gombert has a BFA in Drawing from the University of Akron, an MFA in Painting from Kent State University, and a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Fine Arts from Texas Tech University. He has exhibited widely and his work is in numerous public and corporate collections. Since 1993 has taught painting, drawing and art history at Maryville College in Tennessee.
Dr. Gombert’s commented on the PHOTO EXPO ... "... I am thankful for the opportunity to participate in a small way in bringing forth this show. ... All of the work submitted for this exhibition is of a very high quality, and I congratulate every one of the artists who created and submitted work to this show.”
An Artists’ Reception will take place at the KMA on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 2 PM, where visitors can meet the photographers and enjoy a closer look at the featured works. Awards for Best of Show, 1st Place, and Artistic Distinction will be presented, celebrating outstanding contributions to the visual arts. Select works will be available for purchase throughout the exhibit. The reception is free and open to the public.
The Professional Photographers of East Tennessee is a collective of talented photographers dedicated to advancing the art and profession of photography. Knoxville Children's Theatre: Beowulf The First Avenger

Conceived and written by Alex Drinnen and Dennis E. Perkins, this exciting rendition tells the tale of the great warrior Beowulf who saves the Kingdom of the Danes from not only the greedy ravages of the monster Grendel but also his equally fierce and vengeful mother. After his victories, Beowulf returns to his homeland to become King of his people where he will face monsters of his very own. Staged by KCT Artistic Director, Dennis E. Perkins, the epic scope of this tale about heroics, ethics, and the goodness of Kings will come to life through a visually dramatic presentation in the tradition of Total Theatre.
The play is performed by fourteen talented young actors ages 11 to 16. The show is directed by KCT Artistic Director Dennis E. Perkins and designed by fourteen student designers ages 11 to 16. KCT is East Tennessee’s leading producer of plays for children and families.
The play will be performed Thursdays and Fridays at 7PM, Saturdays at 1pm and Sundays at 3pm.

MISSION & VISION: Vote for Your Daughter is a national nonpartisan public art campaign harnessing the power of art to encourage people to prioritize their daughter's futures when voting.
Started by celebrated artist and activist Maggie O'Neill, a group of 51 statues, representing our 50 states + DC, travels across the country engaging people on four key pillars that significantly impact young women: education, healthcare, equal pay, and representation. Tennessee 2nd Congressional District candidate, Jane George, brought this 2024 nationwide traveling art to Knoxville through her initiatives for uplifting women.
WOMEN STREET ARTISTS
Lilienthal Gallery is currently exhibiting important women street artists, some of the first to forge their way in a largely male dominated genre. Their work seeks to empower women in art spaces as well as the world. This exhibition is on view at the gallery through December 2024.
