Based in Austin, TX, the group of multi-instrumentalists has released six studio albums, starting with 2002’s Identification Parade. Touring clubs and festivals worldwide (Lollapalooza, Coachella, All Tomorrow's Parties) both on their own and as handpicked support for artists as diverse as DEVO and Aesop Rock, they’ve earned a reputation for explosive live shows and immersive audio-visual experiments.

John Suval is a historian of the nineteenth-century United States specializing in antebellum political culture, the American West, public lands, and the U.S.-Mexico borderlands. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin and was a Research Assistant Professor of History at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, serving as an editor of The Papers of Andrew Jackson. He recently moved to West Virginia where he is at work on a book examining inflection points in the history of American democracy.

Deeply researched and vividly written, Dangerous Ground illuminates the overlooked role of squatters in the United States’ growth into a continent-spanning juggernaut and in the onset of the Civil War, casting crucial light on the promises and vulnerabilities of American democracy.

UT School of Art: 75th Anniversary Exhibition Reception

Begun in 1947 by C. Kermit "Buck" Ewing, the School of Art at the University of Tennessee is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. Curated by Ewing Gallery staff members, this exhibition features ephemera and artwork from the Ewing's permanent collection spotlighting important moments and historic individuals in the history of the School of Art.

Join us for a reception on Thursday, November 10 from 5-7pm.

The Ewing Gallery will close November 23 - 27 for the Thanksgiving break.
