Category: Exhibitions, visual art, Festivals, special events and Kids, family

Sun Nov 13 and Tue Nov 15:
Big Ears is excited to announce that it will be partnering with Cattywampus Puppet Council again to bring another community arts parade to Knoxville! Hosted by Cattywampus Puppet Council, these workshops are designed for teachers, community leaders, and any other individuals ages 13 & up who would like to learn how to design and create giant puppets and other parade art for the Big Ears Parade on Saturday, April 1, 2023. In these workshops, we will focus on papier-mâche, cardboard sculpting, rigging, and other methods for making inexpensive parade art. There will not be enough time for participants to complete their own project during this workshop, but each participant will receive a Giant Puppet Making & Parade Art Manual to take home along with hands-on experience and instruction for completing their own design or group project. There is no cost for the workshop, but donations are appreciated (sliding scale $0-$35). Times: Sun Nov 13, 2:30-5 PM and/or Tue Nov 16, 6-8:30 PM at @ St. James Episcopal Church, 1101 N. Broadway. Space is limited, so please register here to reserve your spot! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/giant-puppet-making-parade-art-101-tickets-439884615727

  • November 13, 2022

Category: Lecture, panel and Science, nature

Date: Sunday, November 13, 2022
Time: 1pm
Cost: $20/person

UT Gardens is pleased to partner with Garden Gallivants to present John Manion, Overhill Gardens Educator, who will inspire us with knowledge about ferns in his talk Fascinating and Indispensable Ferns.
This presentation will focus on the ferns here in the southeast, especially the many that are landscape worthy. They come in all sizes and textures to add charisma to any planting, whether the setting is wet, dry, shady or sunny. Because their "roots" are shallow, they are easy to plant.

Light refreshments will be served, and a fern sale will follow the talk. To register send an email to gardengallivants@gmail.com. Space is limited so register soon!
