Blount County Public Library: Knoxville Symphony Orchestra Quartet Free Concert

5945.jpg

Category: Free event, Kids, family and Music

Once again, a Knoxville Symphony Orchestra Quartet will perform a free concert at the Blount County Public Library on Thursday, February 28, at 7 p.m.

In addition to the more usual, more formal playlist, this year’s performance will also feature a couple of books and music especially for children. This year’s children’s book theme will include the book, “How Many Cats?” which will be read by a KSO staff member while the quartet will provide appropriate musical accompaniment.
While the book and music is planned to help young children listen and appreciate orchestral music, the program is very appropriate for all ages. As they perform, members of the quartet provide explanations of the music as well as introductions of themselves and their musical background.

The concert will last approximately one hour, and one of the enticing factors for parents of small children is that families may attend and listen for however long the youngsters are interested, and then, when children become restless, it’s easy to leave without disturbing anyone. Having that flexibility provides exposure to classical music for young families in just the right dosage of interest.
Free and open to the public, the program is sponsored by the Blount County Public Library, located at 508 N. Cusick Street, Maryville.
