Tennessee Smart Yards is an UT Extension-led program that guides Tennesseans on practices they can apply in their outdoor spaces to create healthier, more ecologically-sound landscapes and communities. Join Knox County Masters Gardeners Sarah DeWitt and Mona Yethiraj for an event at Ijams learning all about how to modify what you do to get your home landscape (and neighborhood, too!) certified as a TN Smart Yard. You don’t have to be an expert gardener, just a willingness to think about how stuff works.
At this talk, you will also learn about the new Ijams Weed Warriors Native Landscape Certification Program that also falls under the Smart Yards program.
This talk is free and open to all ages. Please RSVP to save a spot in this program.

Knoxville Children's Theatre: Romeo & Juliet
Category: Kids, family, Literature, spoken word, writing and Theatre
The play will be performed Thursdays and Fridays at 7 PM, Saturdays at 1 PM and 5 PM, and Sundays at 3 PM.
This
production brings this classic play to life on stage for teens to better understand and appreciate the writing of William Shakespeare. After all Shakespeare’s works were meant to be performed and not just read.
Adapted especially for middle and high school students and one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays, Romeo and Juliet is the story of an age-old vendetta between two powerful families (the Montagues and the Capulets) that erupts into bloodshed. A group of masked Montagues risk further conflict by gatecrashing a Capulet party. A young lovesick Romeo Montague falls instantly in love with Juliet Capulet, who is due to marry her father’s choice, the County Paris. With the help of Juliet’s nurse, the women arrange for the couple to marry the next day, but Romeo’s attempt to halt a street fight leads to the death of Juliet’s own cousin, Tybalt, for which Romeo is banished.
The play is performed by twenty seven talented young actors from ages 10 to 17.
This show is directed by KCT Artistic Director Steve Sherman with student Assistant Director, Ava Bradshaw.
KCT is East Tennessee’s leading producer of plays for children and families.
